Courses on different topics in the discipline, enriching the present course offerings. These classes are taught by permanent or visiting faculty. Topics vary each semester.

The search for keys to the history, geography, and cultures of Russia and of the other former Republics of the USSR and of some of their neighbors will help students understand the importance of Central and Eastern Europe in European and global affairs and understand how (or if) the tensions or the new opportunities affecting the geopolitics of the region involve all other parts of the world.
